Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the Range Rover Sport SVR 2021 at a price tag of Rs. 2.19 crore (ex-showroom) onwards. The SUV brings the luxury in the Range Rover Sport and the addition of the massive supercharged engine developed by the brand’s Special Vehicle Operations Division. This makes it the most powerful SUV built by Land Rover ever and it is the flagship offering of the company to go on sale. This car will come to India as a completely built unit (CBU) from the brand’s plant in Coventry, UK.
What’s new in the 2021 RR Sport SVR
Land Rover says that the Range Rover Sport SVR gets an all-aluminium architecture and bespoke enhancements to the chassis for better dynamic handling without any compromise to its all-terrain capabilities. To improve the performance of brakes at higher temperatures and to improve fading the Range Rover Sport SVR is provided with performance brake pads and discs. The suspension damping is specifically tuned to give an exceptional turn-in, mid-corner grip and body control.
Visually to better differentiate the Range Rover Sport SVR from its standard model there have been subtle changes. It gets a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes for better brake cooling. The SUV also gets a body-coloured detailing at the rear with the SVR badge to differentiate and a redesigned 21-inch 5 split spoke alloy wheels.
On the inside, the SVR is equipped with lightweight SVR Performance seats finished in high-quality perforated Windsor leather and the SVR logo on the headrests. It also features an impressive 825W 19-speakers Meridian surround sound system, driver condition monitor, auto-dimming IRVM, configurable ambient lighting, 360-degree parking aid and more.
To make it the most powerful SUV, the Range Rover Sport SVR is equipped with a 5.0L supercharged V8 petrol engine which makes 567bhp of peak power and 700Nm of peak torque. This is coupled to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which powers all four wheels. The SUV takes only 4.5 seconds to reach the 0-100kmph mark, which is quick for an SUV which has a gross weight of 3000kgs.
Rohit Suri, President and Managing Director of Jaguar LandRover India quoted that “ Range Rover SVR redefines and further elevates performance and luxury in an SUV by leveraging the best of bespoke British design and Engineering”. The Range Rover SVR priced at Rs. 2.19 crore ex-showroom will go against some of the high-performing SUVs like the Audi RS Q8, BMW X5 M and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
