Kodiaq was launched in 2017 in India. Before it was discontinued we had seen some additions to its range with new variants and limited editions. But there were no changes in its design. After 4 years in the market, Skoda is finally giving it a mid-life update with fresh new looks and a range-topping RS variant.
Skoda Kodiaq Interior and Exterior
On the outside, Kodiaq gets a new hexagonal grille, a slimmer headlight with innovative LED matrix technology. This time Skoda has given some thought to aerodynamics and tried to reduce it overall. The revamped bumpers, a roof-mounted spoiler with finlets on the side of the rear window. The S, SE, SE L trims get a new aluminium effect detail on the front and rear apron. The L&K variant gets chrome effects the new RS trim gets blacked-out elements. The alloys are also offered between 17-20 inches depending on the trim and they have been designed to reduce some amount of drag.
The changes given to the inside are very subtle with its new ergonomic leather seats, from the mid-spec you get to choose ‘eco’ seats made of recycled vegan materials. It gets a 9.2-inch infotainment system, a Canton sound system with 10 speakers and a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit as standard. The new RS trim gets a red RS stitching on the upholstery and the 10.25-inch virtual cockpit features an extra sport layout option giving prominence to the rev counter and speedometer.
Engine and gearbox
As we know there are no diesel options offered by Skoda, the Kodiaq gets only petrol trims. The basic trim gets the 2.0L TSI engine giving out 190BHP. The top of the trims RS gets a new 2.0L TSI petrol engine which makes 245Bhp which is also seen in the upcoming Skoda Octavia. They claim the new engine to be 60Kg lighter than the 2.0L TDI engine. Both motors are mated to a remapped 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard.
When will the Skoda Kodiaq 2021 launch in India?
With the introduction of new BS6 norms, Skoda had to discontinue the Kodiaq back in April 2020. However, Kodiaq is set to hit the Indian markets in July or September of 2021. After the launch of the 4th generation Skoda Octavia and the new Kushaq.
