Honda had given a peek at its 2022 Civic at the end of 2020. Now the first official production-spec version image has surfaced. Honda is all set to Globally unveil the 11th Gen Civic on 28th April 2021. It has undergone a major transformation on both the inside and outside with some new features introduced.
2022 Honda Civic | Design
The design looks fresh and has been revamped completely from the predecessor. The Civic looks similar to the prototype in terms of design. Only a few bits have been introduced for the production version. Fog lamps have been added and it gets matte black grilles in the front. The chiselled character lines on the bonnet and the small grille in between the headlights makes it more elegant. The LED headlights get an angularly placed DRL. You can see the shoulder line running from the front fender all the way to the taillights. The dimensions haven’t been shared by Honda. It is expected to remain similar to the current-gen Civic.
Honda has carried out its elegant and mature design language to the inside as well. The cabin gets a 9.0-inch touch infotainment system on the minimalist dashboard. With the multi-function steering option, we expect a new digital instrument cluster for the driver. The mesh pattern AC vents gets blended into the dashboard span. Honda tells that it has freed up more headroom for the rear seats and has improved the outside visibility for all passengers.
The car is set to get a raft of active and passive safety features. A new airbag design and driver assistance systems are expected, but they didn’t elaborate on the details yet. There’s been no update on the engine and transmission options as well. But we can hope to get the 1.8L petrol option and some more exciting combinations. It could also get the type-R treatment from Honda.
The new Civic will be first seen in the US where it will be first showcased in its final production form in 2021. We can also expect it to go on sales from the mid of the year. In India, the current-gen Civic was discontinued and we can not expect the next generation Civic to go on sales anytime soon. When it arrives in our market it goes against the likes of the new generation Hyundai Elantra and the new Skoda Octavia.
