Kia Motors India has updated both their SUVs, the 2022 Kia Seltos and Sonet. The facelifted cars include new colour schemes, additional features and reshuffled variants. But visually nothing much has changed for both the SUVs. The 2022 Kia Seltos price starts from Rs. 10.19 lakh and the 2022 Kia Sonet price starts at Rs. 7.15 lakh.
Let’s look at the 2022 Kia Seltos & Sonet individually.
The 2022 Kia Seltos
With no major design changes, let’s get into the other updates. The first thing to discuss is the iMT technology in the 2022 Seltos. Earlier used in the Sonet, Kia will also offer the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) in the Seltos. Surprisingly they have introduced it in the diesel automatic variant, unlike the Sonet which gets it in the petrol version. This happens to be the first diesel car in India to feature the iMT. Just below the HTK+ AT trim, Kia has also added the new HTK AT variant with the 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The traction modes, drive modes and paddle shifters are now offered across all automatic variants. Along with the 2 passenger airbags, Kia now offers additional 2 side airbags as standard. The ESC, vehicle stability management, tyre pressure monitoring system, brake assist and hill assist is also standard across all trims.

The 2022 Sonet will also get the 2 new colours just like the Seltos. But the Sonet only gets 2 additional side airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard for all variants.

There will be no mechanical update for both the SUVs. They will carry forward the existing powertrains.
The Seltos is powered by 3 different engines – a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. A 6-speed MT is standard for all engines. But the naturally aspirated petrol engine gets an optional 6-speed iMT and IVT, the turbo petrol engine gets an optional 7-speed DCT and the diesel engine gets the 6-speed iMT and torque converter AT.
The Sonet is powered by 4 different engines – a 1.2-litre petrol engine, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre WGT diesel and a 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine. They are coupled to a 5-speed MT, 6-speed iMT/7-speed DCT, 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT respectively.
Kia has got a huge boost in sales, thanks to the new 7-seater family MPV Carens. The Carens is really diverting customers away from the segment leader Maruti Ertiga. Now, Kia has decided to enter the EV segment in India. The Kia EV6 was recently spotted testing in Telangana, near the company’s production plant. The launch is likely to happen in the first half of 2022.
