The Korean automaker has come up with some new updates for the 2022 Sonet for the Indian Market. The 2022 Kia Sonet is most likely to be priced between Rs. 7.15 lakh and Rs. 13.69 lakh with an increase according to the trim. There has been a price hike of around 30,000 rupees, along with many new additional features. The new Sonet has six variants. They are the HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+ trims.
Kia has introduced some changes to the colour options that are available for the model. Three existing colours of Kia have been discontinued- Gold Beige, Intelligence Blue and Steel Silver. During the launch of the Sonet, the dual-tone Gold Beige was one of its unique and desired colours. This was discontinued by Kia as well. Although, with the decrease, Kia is also introducing two other options as compensation. These colours include Imperial Blue and Sparkling Silver.
Features and Safety
In terms of safety, all the variants now get a standard Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and 4 airbags. Safety features such as ESC, VSC, hill assist control and brake assist are now available on the HTK+ trim (turbo iMT). Earlier, these features were reserved for the top trims only.
Coming to the interior, the entry-level HTE trim also gets semi-leatherette seats with white stitching. A 4.2-inch semi-digital instrument cluster has been added to the HTX and HTX Anniversary Edition features list. The HTX+ trim now packs 6 airbags, an updated Kia Connect app (was UVO Connect earlier), and an SOS button, which was only exclusive to the GTX+ trim earlier.
The 2022 Kia Sonet continues to offer a plethora of features including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an electric sunroof, new LED headlamps and more. It also has wireless charging, an air purifier, ventilated front seats and a lot more specifications.
2022 Kia Sonet: Engine
The 2022 Kia Sonet SUV will not be receiving any mechanical updates to the car. The subcompact SUV is powered by three engines mainly. The 1.2-litre petrol engine with 5-speed MT produces a power of 83 PS. The second option is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT gearbox which can generate a power of 120 PS. The SUV also has a 1.5-litre diesel engine coupled to either a 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT which gives a power of 100 PS and 115 PS respectively.
As the price hike for the 2022 Kia Sonet is announced, the updates for the car will be released. The Sonet will have competition from models like the Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
