While everyone’s busy focusing on the launch of the 2022 Baleno next week, another Maruti car has been spotted in public. This time it is the Wagon R facelift. The 2022 Maruti Wagon R was spotted during a commercial shoot on Indian roads. This is one of the 8 cars Maruti has planned on introducing in 2022.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: What’s new?

The Wagon R is one of the best selling hatches in India. It was previously updated three years ago back in 2019. From whatever we could spot from the spy shots, it is evident that Maruti will give minor updates to the car.

During the event, we can see a maroon colour Wagon R with blacked-out redesigned rims and the roof. The hatch seemed to have a new grille along with the reshaped bumper. However, the headlight and the rear taillights seem to be unchanged.

2022 Maruti Wagon RThere is no update on the interior of the 2022 Wagon R. Although, we expect a few updates from the 2022 Baleno to be carried forward to the Wagon R like the new 22.86 cm infotainment system and upholstery for the seats.

Powertrain

We don’t expect any major mechanical changes for the 2022 Wagon R. The current 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines will be continued. The smaller engine churns out 68 hp while the bigger one churns out 83 hp of peak power. Both engines are coupled to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The outgoing model is available in a factory-fitted CNG kit. The facelift is also likely to be offered with the CNG kit.

Launch and Pricing

Right now, Maruti is busy with the Baleno launch on the 23rd of February. However, we can expect a launch date for the Wagon R right after the event. With minor updates on both inside and outside the car, the Wagon R will be priced slightly higher than the current model.

As mentioned earlier, Maruti has a big list of cars to be launched this year. Until now, we have spotted the facelift versions of the Ertiga, XL6, Brezza and the Alto 800. We also expect the Jimny off-roader to be launched this year.
