Maruti Baleno has been one of the best-selling premium hatchbacks in the country for over 6 years. Despite the mid-life refresh, the hatchback received back in 2019, the car has started to look outdated compared to its new counterparts that have entered the market. Spy shots of a new facelifted  2022 Baleno hint towards a  refreshed model by the automaker rolling out in the near future.

2022 Maruti Baleno: Design Updates

The new front grille is long and extended to integrate with the headlamps. Headlamps are now more sharp and elongated at both ends. Altogether the car looks aggressive from the front. The new large and wide taillamps overlap the boot. Other than these minor changes the design looks unchanged from the former version.

2022 Maruti Baleno: Interior and Tech

As seen in spy shots, the cabin receives minimal changes. The infotainment system is now a floating type, which is approximately 8 inches and supports Apple car play and Android music connectivity.

Hyundai i-20 like toggle switches are used for climate control. Wireless charging and a steering wheel borrowed from the Swift are also included as design updates.

The updated hatchback will continue to have features from the prior version. keyless entry with push-button start and automatic climate control and safety features like ABS with EBD, rear parking camera, and sensors will be included in the new facelift.

Engine and Transmission

The upcoming facelifted Baleno will not have any major changes under the hood. Hence it will continue with the same 1.2 litre K12B and 1.2-litre Dual jet engines. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes as standard for both the engines, however, the 1.2 litre Dualjet unit will get CVT as an optional.

Pricing and Competition

The updated Baleno starts from Rs. 5.98 Lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.30Lakh. It will rival Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and Volkswagen Polo. Balenos twin, the Toyota Glanza will receive a similar update soon.
