2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

There’s certainly a charm in the good old Wagon R, but the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R facelift comes with much more. The facelifted Wagon R was launched by Maruti Suzuki on Friday with an initial price of Rs.5,39,500/- going up to Rs. 7,10,000/- (ex-showroom).

2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: Power & Performance

The 2022 Wagon R has an arguably upgraded powertrain. The car is powered by Dual VVT engines with idle start-stop technology and K-series Dual Jet. Moreover, it comes in 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre powertrain options. They also offer a CNG kit for the Wagon R but only for the smaller 1.0-litre engine.

The 1.0-litre petrol engine is fundamentally from the latest Celerio. It produces 67 hp for the petrol mode. Whereas in the CNG mode it makes just 55 hp, but the fuel efficiency is better. Interestingly, CNG which was only available as a factory fit option exclusively on the entry-level LXI trim before, the privilege is now expanded to the mid-spec VXI variant too. The slightly bigger 1.2-litre engine pushes out 88 hp and 113 Nm of peak torque.

It is said that there will strictly be no changes in the transmission department. The 2022 Wagon R continues to offer a 5-speed manual and 5 speed automatic

2022 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: Interior & Exterior

The 2022 Wagon R brings with it blacked-out alloy wheels, which is one step ahead of the recent model which had steel rims along with wheel covers on fully filled ZXI trims. The two upgraded dual-tone colour options on the Wagon R are Magma Grey with a black roof and Gallant Red with a black roof.

Coming to the interior, Maruti announced the change in the colour scheme of the fabric upholstery to the beige and dark grey melange. Other than these upgrades, there aren’t many noteworthy changes to the cosmetic front.

Features

Hill-start assist and dual airbags are some of the notable features of the automatic variant. Other specs include a 7-inch Smartplay infotainment system along with navigation and four exceptional speakers. Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity are other notable features. It has 4 power windows, Bluetooth controls and keyless entry as well.

The latest Maruti Wagon R will compete against Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and Tata Tigor in the hatchback segment. The all-new model comes with a lot of exciting features and upgrades, and there are a lot of expectations to be met.
