Mercedes-Benz India has brought their flagship luxury sedan in India this year. The 2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has been introduced in two variants, which include S580 4Matic and S680 4Matic. The Maybach S680 will be imported into the country and it has a price tag of Rs.3.2 crore. Whereas, the S580 will be manufactured in India at the Chakan facility and will be priced at Rs.2.5 crores.
Price and Performance
The S680 variant is powered by a 6.0-litre V12 unit which develops a power of 612 bhp and a torque of 900 Nm. The power being sent to all the wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a matter of 4.5 seconds.
The locally assembled S580 is said to have a 4.0-litre V8 unit which develops a power of 503 bhp and a torque of 700 Nm. Similar to the S680, the S580 has a 9-speed automatic transmission and it accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in a span of 4.8 seconds. The engines of both models are BS6 compliant as well.
2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Interiors
The inside of the cabin is furnished with rich leather upholstery and many upgrades. The Maybach S-Class has a 12.8-inch OLED central display that runs via the MBUX interface. It features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The driver gets to view a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
It also has other features like quad-zone automatic climate control, dual 11.6-inch seat-mounted displays at the back, and ventilation for the seats. All seats in the car have electrical adjustment, with a good backrest as well. The latest feature includes gesture recognition allowing the passenger at the back to close the door with just a wave of the hand.
2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Exteriors
The Maybach S-Class also consists of Mercedes’ customary grille, and the air intakes are covered with a chrome mesh. The Maybach also has upgraded headlamps and are fitted with digital light and LED lamps. The luxury sedan also has 20-inch wide wheels and also sports driving aids including Evasive Drive assist, Active Brake assist, monitoring of blind spot and lane assist.
Mercedes-Benz is the world’s title holder for the ‘best luxury carmaker in the world’ and it is definitely keeping up with the headline. The luxury brand also has a lot in store for India with new releases this year.
