Upgrades for the 2022 Renault Kiger
When it comes to the external design features of the car, there are a couple of visual updates. It will have a new skid plate for the front bumper, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a new chrome garnish for the tailgate. The exterior colour option for the SUV is a dual-tone option of mustard yellow with a black roof. This colour scheme was used in the Renault Triber MPV too.
The upholstery on the seats of the car has red contrast stitching which gives it a sporty look. Its interior will have red highlights on its dashboard. The PM2.5 air filter is available as standard equipment with the Kiger. Other additional features include wireless smartphone charging and cruise control.
The updated model also comes with a new bunch of safety features and equipment which helps in making trips safer. It is said to get 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX anchorage for a child seat and speed-sensing door locks.
Engine and transmission options
The 2022 Kiger mainly has two engine options, the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The former engine gets a maximum power of 72 hp and maximum torque of 96 Nm. This will be offered with both 5-speed manual and 5 speed AMT gearbox options.
The turbocharged petrol version on the other hand is a lot more powerful. It generates a power of 100 hp and a maximum torque of 160 Nm. It is available with both 5-speed manual and CVT options. Launched last year, the RXT (O) variant was only available with the 1.0-litre NA engine. Now, it will also equip the turbocharged engine.
The Renault Kiger will also be exported from India to countries like Nepal, South Africa and Indonesia. The model will face a lot of competition from other sub-4 metre compact SUVs in the market. These models include the Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
