The Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback. Now that Maruti has updated the Baleno, it’s time Glanza is also updated. Toyota had teased the 2022 Glanza last week. Today they have officially commenced the bookings for the 2022 Glanza at a token amount of Rs. 11,000/-. The launch of the hatch along with a full price list is scheduled for March 15th. Read further for more details.

2022 Toyota Glanza Engine and Pricing

Toyota is yet to release the full price list of the 2022 Glanza. The sibling Baleno is priced between Rs. 6.35 lakh to Rs. 9.49 lakh. We expect the price of the Glanza to be similar to the Baleno.

Unlike the old Glanza which was offered in only 2 variants, the 2022 Glanza will get 4 variants. With the G and V trims already available, Toyota will add the E and S variants. This is just like the Sigma, Delta, Zeta & Alpha variants of the 2022 Baleno. Variant E is the basic trim followed by the S, G & V which is the top-spec fully loaded trim.

The Glanza will feature the same K12N 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It produces 90 hp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmission. Maruti no longer offers the hybrid powertrain in the Baleno hence the 2022 Glanza will also miss it.

2022 Toyota Glanza exterior, interior and features

The Toyota Glanza exterior will look different than the last time when the Toyota badging was the only difference. The teaser showcases a different front end for the Glanza. The front grille and bumper, L-shaped DRLs, the chrome usage and the alloy wheel design are to be derived from the Camry. The rear looks similar to the Baleno.

The cabin layout, upholstery and feature list will largely remain the same as the Baleno. The floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the heads-up display will don the interior.

2022 Toyota GlanzaFeatures include the auto-dimming IRVM, keyless entry, automatic climate control, Suzuki connect app, Arkamys surround sound system, cruise control, and more. Safety features include a 360-degree camera, ESP with hill hold, ABS with EDS, brake assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more.

Launch and competition

As mentioned earlier, the 2022 Toyota Glanza launch in India is scheduled to happen on the 15th of March. With VW Polo being discontinued in India, the Maruti Baleno is a direct competitor to the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz

Toyota and Suzuki are working together on a new midsize SUV for the Indian market. Not a lot of details have emerged but some reports suggest that it is an EV scheduled to come in 2025
