The long-awaited Skoda Octavia is launching tomorrow and in the 4th generation variant, many are anticipated to know the features. The Czech carmaker had delayed its launch due to the lockdown constraints but is all set to launch the new variant. Here are some unique features of this extraordinary car.
- Exterior design:
The new Skoda Octavia looks bolder and sharper than its older generation variant abroad, unique due to its improved design scheme. It has narrow LED headlamps and tail lamps, sharp crease lines, and a sleek shoulder line that gives the car a smarter and dynamic appearance. In addition to this, the new variant is also bigger in terms of size, 4,689mm long, 1,469mm tall, 1,829mm wide, and a wheelbase of 2680 mm which means there is increased space for passengers inside the cabin.
The Skoda Octavia will be launched in two new models – Style and Laurin & Klement. Each model will come with 17-inch alloy wheels and various colour schemes in both these variants keeping in mind the Laurin & Klement will have two additional colour options. - Feature-rich interiors:
Just like the fine exterior aspects, the interiors for this vehicle are also minimalistic and feature-rich. In a model of the same Skoda variant available abroad, Skoda has used soft-touch materials for the interior to give it a more premium feel.
The car comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone climate control, digital instrument cluster, a digital assistant called ‘Laura’, and a smart device connection to name some of the extraordinary features. Adding to this, the interiors for the India-spec are expected to be beige-on-black instead of the all-black interior that is sold abroad. - Engine and transmission:
The 4th-gen Skoda Octavia will be powered by 2.0L TSI(turbocharged stratified injection) petrol with power and torque of 190PS and 320Nm. The transmission will be a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that powers the front wheels. That is said to be a more powerful engine than the previous variants. Skoda has also introduced shift by wire technology which is a first in its sedan model. The new Octavia will not have a diesel engine segment as Skoda has decided to focus on the petrol segment since its transition to comply with BS6 norms. - Safety features:
While the standard features in both such as the electromechanical parking brake and auto hold features remain the same, the Style variant happens to get 6 airbags whereas the Laurin & Klement variant will be getting 8. Other safety assist features include ABS, EBD, EDL(Electronic differential lock), Hydraulic brake assist, Mechanical brake assist, multi-collision brake, adaptive headlamps, and driver fatigue alert in a model of the same Skoda variant available abroad with unique safety features. - Color options:
The Style variant will be offering the colors Lava Blue, Magic Black, and Candy White whereas the Laurin & Klement variant will be offering two additional colours, Brilliant Silver and Maple Brown. The price for these cars ranged from ₹25.99 lakhs and ₹28.99 lakhs.
