MG, SAIC Motor Corporation owned British carmaker has teased its all-new EV. They have released a short video of the EV on their official Twitter handle. What seems to be another SUV, the new EV is likely to be called the MG 4. According to reports the MG 4 will be launched at the end of 2022 in the UK.

MG 4 EV Battery pack

MG has officially not released any specifications regarding the EV. But we expect the MG 4 to feature a 61.1 kWh battery pack coupled to a single electric motor. It is capable of producing 154 hp and 260 Nm of peak torque. We can expect a range of over 400 km with a single charge.

MG 4 EV Design

The video doesn’t give out much about the design and interior. From what we can see, the orange SUV gets a completely new look. It has black cladding in the lower part of the doors, blackened mirror caps and rooftop along with dual-tone diamond-cut alloys.

MG 4 EVAt the rear, MG has designed a beautiful new taillamp. The Y shaped lights run from the quarter panel to the centre of the tailgate where the big ‘MG’ logo is placed. They also confirmed that the SUV will measure 4.3 m in length

MG 4 EVMG hasn’t disclosed any information about the interiors as well. However, we can expect the EV to feature a more premium cabin than the ZS EV. It could also get the level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) seen in the Astor SUV (known as ZS in the UK).

Launch timeline

MG seems to be cooking an affordable new EV for all markets. The ‘MGElectricforAll’ hashtag used in the tweet confirms this. It is scheduled to be launched during the last quarter of this year. While British customers will get the SUV initially, India and other markets will receive it later. The MG 4 EV will rival the new Volkswagen ID.3, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the newly launched Kia EV6.

At present, MG offers the Astor, Hector and Gloster SUVs along with the ZS EV in India. They will launch the ZS EV facelift in the coming weeks in India.
