The Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept was teased today. The touring shares a lot with the Audi A6 e-tron revealed last year. Both electric vehicles are built on the same PPE platform. Audi says the A6 Avant e-tron is almost production-ready and can hit the production line with minor changes.
This will be an addition to Audi’s e-tron GT, e-tron and e-tron Sportback EV lineup. The A6 e-tron will be the first to launch followed by the A6 Avant e-tron. Scroll down to learn more.
Audi A6 Avant e-tron
The A6 Avant e-tron will use the VW Group’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) jointly developed with Porsche. It underpins many of the Porsche and Audi EVs already on sale. The touring measures 4.87 m in length, 1.95m in width and 1.43 m in height.
Design-wise, the Avant e-tron looks very similar to the A6 e-tron. It features the same Digital Matrix LED headlamp with three rows of LEDs. These LEDs give customers the freedom to design their own DRL shapes. The taillight is spread across the width of the car with Audi’s new LED lighting. Audi’s four-ring logo is now illuminated at both the front and rear end.
The most attractive feature is the shutter system in the headlight and taillight. They can now turn into specific shapes or animations and project a video game on a wall or screen. The LED projectors placed around the car can now welcome the occupants with their names displayed on the ground. The other LED modules project the turn indicators on the floor which acts as a safety feature.
Battery and performance
Audi hasn’t disclosed any specifics regarding the battery and electric motors. But Audi claims the A6 Avant e-tron can go 700 km in a single charge. This is similar to the A6 e-tron which will probably share the same battery specs. With the 800 volt system and 270 kW charging capacity, the Avant e-tron can charge from 5-80% in just 25 mins. The car can go up to 300 km with just 10 mins of charging time.
The A6 Avant e-tron might seem big, but the EV is super quick. With Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the EV can go from standstill to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds. A single motor step up is also in the cards which can go from 0-100 kmph in 7 seconds.
