Audi has revealed the new facelift version of their flagship sedan the Audi A8. The Luxury sedan comes with advanced lighting technology and a bigger grille. The new A8 will go on sale in the international market from December 2021.
Audi A8 Design and Styling
Speaking of changes made to the A8, the new grille takes up even more room in the fairing and the A8 now looks more aggressive and sporty in its standard look than ever before. The headlights are taller and below them is a thick chrome strip that surrounds the air deflectors and runs the full width of the bumper.
At the rear, the new OLED (organic LED) taillights are a bit wider and rounded, and the chrome trim at the base of the bumper has been redesigned. Under the skin, 58% of the Audi A8’s chassis is made of aluminum. Engineers even used carbon fiber and magnesium reinforced polymer in the construction of the car to reduce weight.
Audi A8 Interior and Tech
Audi has made minimal changes inside the cabin. An optional 10.1-inch touchscreen for rear passengers is now available. The 10.1-inch infotainment system on the dashboard is paired with Bang and Olufsen 23-speaker sound system. Valetta leather upholstery, multifunctional steering wheel, ambient lighting, and digitally controllable seats with massaging and heating functions are also included as new features.
Engine and Transmission
The engine variants remain unchanged, Audi a8 is offered in 2 engine specs. The 3-litre TFSI turbo petrol engine can produce 350PS and 500 Nm of torque and accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds. The more powerful 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine can produce 460PS and 660 Nm of torque, It can accelerate from 0-100Kmph in just 4.4 seconds. Both the engines are connected to Audi’s ‘Quattro’ all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed ‘Tiptronic’ automatic gearbox. Minor changes might be made to these specs in the Models meant for the Indian market.
A8-Horch for the Chinese market
60% of worldwide sales of Audi A8 happen in the Chinese market.
Audi has created a new top-of-the-line version called the Horch, exclusive to China.
This model will rival a super luxurious sedan like the Mercedes Maybach s class. The Horch comes with a longer wheelbase of 5.45m.
Audi A8 facelift is expected to launch in India sometime next year. The prices for the luxury sedan will start from around Rs. 86 lakhs (ex-showroom).
