The famous German car manufacturer has begun its journey of electrification in India with the launch of the Audi e-Tron. This electric car is an SUV and will be available in 3 models – e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55. The e-tron series is a unique and dynamic model and has a distinguished roofline to define its body and give it a sporty edge.
Exteriors:
Starting with the dimensions of this spectacular e-tron 50 and 55 SUV measures 5,014mm in length, 1686 mm in height and 1,976 mm in width. The e-tron Sportback 55 also shares similar width and length but has a height of 1,673 mm, a lower roofline because of the design.
With all these body dimensions, it gets an incredible boot space as well, it comes with 660 litres and can be extended up to 1,725 litres when the rear seats are folded. On the other hand, the e-tron Sportback offers 615 litres of boot space that can be extended up to 1,665 litres when the rear seats are folded.
This electric SUV also displays a fascia with an illuminated single-frame grille finish in Platinum Grey which simply makes the vehicle add to the Luxury feel.
The sides come with orange highlight colour brake callipers that the manufacturer has claimed to get inspired by voltage wires and also come with 20-inch Graphite Gray Diamond alloy wheels. The rear has LED strips that just give the SUV a bold and dynamic look.
Powertrain and Battery:
The e-tron 50 gets a 71kW battery and covers a range of 264-379 Km. The electric motors on both axles give it a power and torque of 313Hp and 540 Nm which allow it to go from 0-100kph in 6.8 sec.
The more powerful version of the same is available in e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55, which comes with a dual-motor assemble and has a 95kWh battery. It comes with power and torque of 408Hp and 664Nm which is a notch higher than the e-tron 50. It can cover a range of 264-370Km and can go from 0-100kph in 5.7 sec.
The battery is highly efficient and can be charged in 8.5 hours by using an 11kW AC charger and can be charged in 30 minutes using a 150kW DC charger, The 11kW happens to be the fastest charger amongst all rivals. However, Audi will also be providing an onboard converter of a 22kW AC charger if the infrastructure can be built.
Interiors and features:
The interior of the premium car gives a dual touchscreen feature that gives a 10.1-inch display system and 8.8-inch display system for climate control and other functions that are placed below the display system on the centre. The digital instrument cluster Audi goes with is a ‘Virtual cockpit’ setup.
Adding on to this, the e-tron 55 comes with matrix LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, 4-zone climate control function, progressive steering, powered tailgate, cruise control, power-adjustable steering wheel, panoramic sunroof and leather upholstery as a standard feature.
The Audi e-tron 55 also features a Technology pack that gives an additional 705W, 16-speaker B&O premium 3-D sound unit, 30-colour ambient lighting, air purifier, 360° cameras and more.
Apart from the above features, it also offers soft-close doors, Audi’s Virtual cockpit plus, a heads up display, a flat-bottom steering wheel and adaptive wipers.
Safety:
Talking about safety, this electric vehicle offers 8 airbags, external sound alerts to alert pedestrians, illuminating seatbelts for easy use, etc. The unique safety feature of this car is pre-sense basic prevention that is useful in case of emergency brakes or handling the limit.
This system immediately tightens seatbelts, optimises the seating position, closes windows and the sunroof.
