BMW was late to enter the EV game in India. But the German automaker is all set to enter in style and take over the EV market. BMW earlier announced that the company will be rolling out multiple BEVs in the country. The BMW iX and Mini Cooper SE will be launched later this month. The Manufacturer has announced that the BMW i4 will be its third addition to the EV lineup in India.

BMW i4 will come with exterior dimensions similar to the current 3 series. The car is 4,783mm long, 1,852mm wide, and 1,448mm tall. The exterior styling of the upcoming i4 is similar to the 4-Series. At the front, the car comes with a large closed-off kidney grille with smalled dashed patterned styling. The alloy wheels get a futuristic design and a blue-coloured trim runs along the running board. Other exterior features are slim LED headlights, chrome window lining, and sleek LED taillamps.

Inside the cabin, the centre console is dominated by a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The car also gets a 14.9-inch curved digital dial system. Styling elements such as sporty seats and blue accents create a digital vibe in the interiors. Other interior features are- Three-zone automatic climate control and ventilated seats.

Powertrain

The BMW i4 is available in two different variants. 

The entry-level variant eDrive40 comes in a rear-wheel drivetrain. The motor of this model can produce 340hp and 430Nm of torque. This variant can achieve an acceleration of 0-100kph in 5.7sec. 

The Superior all-wheel-drive M50 gets a dual-motor drivetrain. The motor on the front axle can generate 258 hp while the rear motor produces 313hp. This variant can produce a power of 544hp in total and 759Nm of torque. Moreover, the unique Sport Boost function enables the M50 to increase its full power output for around 10 seconds when driven in Sport mode. The car can accelerate from0-100 in just 3.9 seconds with Sports boost mode. However, we do not have any information about which model will be available in the Indian market.

The i4 will rival the likes of Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT.
