Mahindra has teased its upcoming EV concepts through the brand’s official social media handle. Mahindra calls its new electrification venture the ‘Born Electric Vision’. The teaser consists of 3 EVs designed by a team headed by Pratap Bose. The design and development were done in Mahindra’s UK-based Studio Mahindra Advance Design Europe (MADE).
Pratap Bose was the head of design at Tata motors before he joined Mahindra last year. Many successful vehicles including the Tata Harrier and Safari were designed under Pratap’s lead. Mahindra will officially unveil the new electric vehicles in July 2022.
More about Born Electric Vision by Mahindra
Mahindra has declared that it will invest around ₹3,000 crores for its EV development. Upcoming electric vehicles from Mahindra will feature under the automakers Born Electric Vision. This is a platform exclusive to Mahindra’s EV portfolio. All vehicles under the platform will get a futuristic and bespoke design styling. It is pretty evident from the teaser that homegrown automaker is all set to take the Indian electric market with a set of cars that will stand out from the rest. However, the teaser does not show any design or technical details other than the C-shaped LED daytime running lights and the LED taillamps. Moreover, there are slight variants in the styling of the headlamp and taillamp which clearly distinguishes the segments. In fact, the three segments are a compact SUV, a midsize SUV, and an SUV coupe.
We expect that one of the 3 SUVs teased in the video could be a hint at the upcoming XUV900 coupe. Furthermore, the midsize SUV will be an all-electric variant of Mahindra’s flagship XUV700. However, Mahindra had earlier announced the upcoming eXUV300 that will hit the markets later next year, so we expect the third vehicle in the teaser to be a different compact SUV. We have very little information about the overall design styling, comfort feature, and powertrain specifications of the upcoming EVs. We will have to wait for more announcements from the automaker before the unveil.
One of India’s first electric vehicles was the Mahindra Reva which later came out as the E2O. The automaker also has an electric version of the ICE Verito. The upcoming EVs will surely make the manufacturer’s EV lineup more powerful and appealing.
