The automotive car sales figure was 2,60,162 in October 2021. 3,33,981 cars were sold in the same month last year. There was a 20.10% decline in YoY growth. Whereas MoM growth had a positive growth when compared to 1,85,908 cars sold in September 2021.

Maruti remains at the top of sales with a market share of 41.89% in October 2021. The Indian automaker successfully sold 1,08,991 units in the month of October. Maruti’s YoY growth was down by -33.49%, as compared to 1,63,656 cars sold in the month last year.
Maruti managed to achieve a 72.70% increase in MoM growth.
Maruti tops the list for MoM growth. The automaker had sold 63,111 units in September.
Hyundai stands second in the list with a share of 14.23% from 37,021 cars sold in October. Yoy growth has gone down by -34.60%. In the previous year, the Korean automaker sold 56,605 cars in India. MoM growth has an upward curve with an increase of 11.89%.
Hyundai is expected to have tremendous growth after the facelift versions of Creta, Venue and the next-gen Tucson hits the market.
Selling 33,925 units in October 2021, Tata Motors is ranked third on the list. Tata’s YoY growth is 43.65% as compared to 23,617 cars sold in October in the previous year. MoM growth is 31.85%, when compared to 25,730 cars sold in September 2021. The launch of the new micro SUV the Tata Punch has helped Tata Achieve these numbers. The Car has a 5-star GNCAP rating for safety.
Mahindra stands at fourth place with a market share of 7.74%. The homegrown automaker sold 20,130 units in October 2021. YoY growth has gone down by 8.10%, last year Mahindra had sold 18,622 cars in October. The launch of XUV700 helped in the MoM growth rate. Mahindra saw an increase of 53.27% when compared to 13,134 units sold in September 2021. XUV 700 was an instant success with its great combination of power and luxury. 65000+ XUV700 has been booked to date.
Kia took the 5th position by selling 16,331 units in October 2021.
YoY growth has gone down by -22.31%. IN October 2020 Kia sold 21,021 cars in the Indian market. MoM growth has increased by 13.09%, when compared to 14,441 cars sold in September 2021.
Automakers like Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, Skoda, and Jeep saw growth in Monthly car sales while Renault, Honda, and MG saw a slight decline in sales figures. Citroen was new in the Indian Market hence there are no previous year’s figures to compare and Ford Leaving India Made a 100% decline in the American automaker’s sales in India.
Corona and Rising fuel prices have had a negative impact on car sales in India. Automakers are working hard to bring out new models in the midst of the global semiconductor shortage. The car sales are projected to go high during the festive season in November.
