MG Motor India has recently launched the ZS EV facelift. The new update comes with a larger battery pack, new exterior and interior styling, and added tech features. The car will be available in two variants – Excite and Exclusive. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon has been on top of the EV sales chart for quite a long time. MG ZS EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Pricing
Prices for the MG ZS start at Rs. 22 lakh and go north till Rs. 25.88 lakh for the high-end. Exclusive variant. The new facelift is almost Rs. 50,000 to 70,000 more expensive when compared to the current model. However, the new model comes equipped with multiple new features including a larger battery pack.
On the other hand, the Nexon EV comes at a much more affordable price range. Nexon EV’s compact size, small battery pack help the automaker make this car cheaper. However, the car is a good choice for intra-city drives and daily commutes. Prices for the Nexon EV start at Rs. 14.29 lakh and go up to Rs. 16.69 lakh.
MG ZS EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Powertrain
The 2022 ZS EV generates a total power output of 176 hp. This is 33 hp more powerful when compared to the outgoing model. The new 50.3 kWh battery pack helps in delivering 461 km of range in a single charge. However, Tata is way behind the MG ZS when it comes to power and range. The Nexon has a total power output of 129 hp and provides 312 km of range in a single charge. It gets a smaller 30.2 kWh battery pack. However, we expect Tata to launch a model with a larger 40 kWh battery pack sometime soon. Moreover, both vehicles use single-speed automatic transmission.
The ZS EV facelift takes almost an hour to charge its battery from 0-80% using a 50 kW charger. On the other hand, the Nexon EV too takes almost an hour to charge from 0-80%, but Nexon uses a 25 kW charger.
MG ZS EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Dimension
The MG ZS EV is 4,323 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,649 mm tall. Furthermore, the EV has a wheelbase of 2,581 mm and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. The Nexon EV is 3,993 mm long, 1,811 mm wide, and 1,606 mm tall. The wheelbase is a bit short at 2,498 mm translating to slightly less interior room. Also, its wheels measure 16 inches.
Interior and Tech
Inside the cabin, the 2022 MG ZS EV gets similar styling and features as the Astor. A 10-inch infotainment system dominates the dashboard. The car also gets a fully digital instrument cluster. The interior styling is limited to a single all-black colour scheme. Other tech features include six airbags, a blind spot warning, a 360-degree camera, reverse parking assistance, electronic stability control, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic assistance.
The MG ZS EV is a good choice if you want an EV with great range, safety, and tech features. It is a complete package. Furthermore, the Tata Nexon EV suits people who would like a value for money vehicle for stepping into the EV segment.
