In a push to promote better alternatives to Traditional cars, the Ministry of Road Transportation and highways is likely to waiver registration fees for electric vehicles. So electric cars customers will have an easier time purchasing an Electric car.

Draft Notice

In the notice a line has been added to Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 which states “Provided further that, for the Battery Operated Vehicles as defined in rule 2(u); the items given at Sl. no. 4 of the below-mentioned TABLE shall be exempted from the payment of fees for the purpose of issue or renewal of registration certificate and assignment of the new registration mark.”

Rule 81 refers to the various fees chargeable to vehicle owners from grant and renewal of trade certificates for vehicles to issues of registration and more. According to the Ministry, this eases and increases the adoption of electric vehicles.
