Spy shots on the internet have revealed the latest details about the new and improved SUV, the five-door Force Gurkha. New features and elements have been added to this model from the regular three-door Gurkha model. The Market and Price Launch for the model is expected to take place during the festive season, i.e October-November 2022.

Five-door Gurkha: Exterior Design and Detailing

Interestingly, the 5-door model is it is expected to have Captain seats in both the second and third rows. It is expected to be released in both 6 and 7 seater versions. The seating arrangement of this model is hence unique with a bench seat in the middle row for a 7 seater or 2 Captain’s seats each in the middle and last rows for a 6 seater.

It is expected to continue with existing features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power windows, central locking, dual airbags, rear parking sensors and more. However, when compared to other modern SUVs the Gurkha is still pretty rudimentary.

The rear-quarter area and the glasshouse have been completely redesigned and there is also an inclusion of two additional doors. The five-door Gurkha is designed to have an expected wheelbase of 2.8m, which is around 400mm longer than the regular model. The front and rear exterior designs, however, remain unchanged.

Engine and Off-road Gear

Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by the same 2.6-litre Mercedes diesel engine. While the three-door Gurkha produces 91bhp and 250 Nm of torque, it remains to be seen whether the Force ups the numbers for the larger and heavier five-door Gurkha. The engine will come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, with power being sent to all four wheels via a four-wheel-drive system.

Just like the regular Gurkha, the five-door is expected to share similar off-road gears. Such as a low-end transfer case, manually locking front and rear differentials, independent front suspension and a rigid multi-link rear suspension.

The Mahindra Thar, a direct rival to the Gurkha, is also preparing a five-door representation of the model. In addition, Maruti is also working on a five-door Jimny for the market.
