The much-awaited offroader, Force Gurkha has been launched at a starting price of Rs. 13.59 lakh ex-showroom. Force auto seems to have improved the new Gurkha as a more premium offering compared to its predecessor. The vehicle comes with improved comforts and modern features, superior off-road capabilities and an updated BS6 compliant engine that helps it to match up with its rivals.
What powers the Force Gurkha?
Under the hood is a BS6 compliant 2.6-Litre diesel engine that was derived from the Mercedes common rail engine. It puts out a total output of 90 Bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. These figures are similar to the previous generation Gurkha. The diesel mill is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, Force is not offering the SUV with automatic transmission. The car will also get AWD with low range and manual locking differentials.
Force Gurkha exterior and interior
The exterior silhouette looks similar to the predecessor, however, Force has given several updates on the outside and inside to improve the style quotient. On the outside, the Gurkha features a new grille with the ‘Gurkha’ logo, bumpers, a new set of fog lamps, circular LED headlights with LED DRLs.
The newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels look prominent with thick black cladding around the wheel arches. The water-wading capacity of the Gurkha is now 700mm, thanks to the functioning snorkel placed on the A-pillar. The rear is equipped with a new set of taillamps and a small ladder to access the luggage carrier on the roof.
Inside the cabin, it gets a new dashboard design with a single tone dark grey theme. The improvements are prominent with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Andriod Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity. A semi-digital driver instrument cluster with three-spoke steering capable of tilt and telescopic adjust.
In addition, it also gets power windows, central locking, air conditioning, USB charging sockets for all 4 passengers.
You can see vast improvements in safety compared to the previous generation Gurkha. The 2021 Gurkha gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard, rear parking ISOFIX child seating and more.
Force also provides additional accessories for customers. Like the Windscreen bar, Roof carrier, Rear ladder, Roof rails, alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres.
Pricing and competition
Force has launched the Gurkha in one single variant that is priced at Rs. 13.59 lakh ex-showroom. The Gurkha is only challenged by Mahindra Thar for now. It will also compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny which is expected to come in the first half of 2022.
