Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has revealed its second supercar the T33. Unlike the T50, the new model loses the rear fan and the 3 seat layout. The design of the T50 was inspired by Gordon Murray’s famous design, the McLaren F1. Moreover, the T33 is a more practical variant of the T50 and comes with more luggage space and a detuned engine for everyday driving.

Highlights: GMA T33

Styling

Gordan Murray T33The inspiration for the T33 came from the flowing and less cluttered design styling from the ’60s. Murray believes that the extra trims and vents on the new age supercars have more value and are non-functional.

However, the T33 is different from most modern supercars. Every single design element from the air ducts to the creases and body lines have a purpose. The T30 is almost the same size as the Porsche Boxter. However, The T33’s weighs under 1100kg, making it lighter than a Mazda MX-5. The overall design of the T33 is smooth and flowing with large round headlamps and a long air intake duct on the front.

GMA T33There is an air intake roof scoop completely unattached to the body which directly connects to the engine. creating better aerodynamics. The rear design is minimal too, the LED taillamp is circular and minimal. Murray believes sculpted and aggressive taillamp design in modern cars will go outdated in a few years.

Engine and Gearbox

GMA T33 engine

The T33 gets the same 3.9-litre Cosworth V12 engine with a simple detune. The 178kg aluminium block can generate 607bhp and 332 pound-feet (450 Nm) of peak torque. The cylinder heads are similar to the T50. However, new camshafts, variable valve timing, and engine mapping help to deliver the bulk of the torque lower down the rev range for better engine flexibility.

The T33 comes in both manual and automatic transmission setups. The power to the rear wheel comes through a six-speed manual or a paddle-shift gearbox. In fact, GMA claims that the paddle shift box is the lightest supercar paddle-shift setup weighing just 78kg.

Gordan Murray says the T33 feels like a Porsche Boxter on steroids. Although GMA has not put out any performance spec, we expect the T33 to accelerate from 0-60 under in under 3 seconds and have a top speed of over 200mph.

Usability

The T33 is an everyday supercar. In fact, T33 is your go-to car if you had to drive a single supercar for the rest of your life. The vehicle has a fuel tank capacity of 75 litres and can provide a mileage of 400 miles in a full tank. Moreover, unlike other supercars, the T33 has an ample amount of storage space.

There are 3 compartments for storage: the front, and sections ahead of the rear wheels. The side storage compartments open like suicide doors and can hold 2 suitcases each. Furthermore, the total luggage space is 280 litres, this is almost the same amount of storage as in a small hatchback.

Price

The T33 comes at a base price of $1.8 million. This is a huge bargain for a vehicle with the same V12 engine and similar design styling to the T50.

Gordon Murray said that only 100 units of each model will be made to keep the cars exclusive. Murray added that 3 different variants of the T33 will include a spyder in the lineup.
