Hyundai has launched the first 3-row SUV Alcazar today at Rs. 16.3 lakh ex-showroom. After significant delays because of the second wave of the Covid-19 across the country, the car is finally here. Hyundai has already opened pre-bookings of the Alcazar, you can visit their website or go to the nearest dealership and book. The minimum token amount for the booking is Rs. 25,000/- and the delivery should start in a few days. Alcazar is making good promises of being a capable drive while offering a feature-loaded cabin. The SUV will go against the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Toyota Innova Crysta, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
Hyundai Alcazar: Exterior build
As we all know, the Alcazar is based on the ongoing Creta which shares some of the design elements and features. To fit in the third row Hyundai has made the Alcazar 150mm longer than the Creta. This significantly improves the legroom in the second and third-row and also the boot space. Hyundai claims that the Alcazar has the longest wheelbase and the highest boot space of 180L in the segment.
The major difference between Alcazar and the Creta is that the new SUV features a redesigned studded front grille, LED headlights, front bumper, 18- inch alloy wheels, new wraparound taillights and a faux dual exhaust.
Interior and features
The cabin has a dual-tone cognac brown interior which redefines premium-ness and comfort. It incorporates many first in segment features like the 10.25-inch multi-display digital cluster, Bose premium sound system, Auto healthy air purifier with AQI display, front row seatback table with retractable cup holder, side footstep, Front row sliding sun visor, rear window sunshade, puddle lamps with Hyundai logo projection.
The Alcazar SUV is to come with a host of advanced & Hi-Tech Features like voice enables smart panoramic sunroof, Drive mode select (comfort, eco and sport), one-touch tip and tumble 2nd-row seats, traction control modes (snow, sand and mud), 64 different ambient lightings, 8-way power driver seat, Advanced Hyundai Blue Link.
Coming to the safety features Alcazar gets the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) or the SmartSense – traction control, highway driving lane assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, auto braking while in reverse, rear traffic alert, driver attention warning.
The Alcazar is to be offered in two seating configurations, 6-seater and 7-seater options. The 6-seater will get 2 captain seats for the 2nd row and the 7-seater will get a bench row in the 2nd row. For easy access to the third row both configurations get a one-touch tip and tumble option which is claimed to be the best in the segment.
Hyundia Alcazar Powertrain
The Alcazar SUV will be powered by either a 1.5L diesel or a 2.0L petrol motor. The diesel engine is the 1.5L VGT engine which is used in the Creta, this makes max power of 115bhp and 250nm of max torque. The petrol engine is the third generation Nu 2.0L turbo petrol engine which is used in Tucson that makes a total power of 160bhp and 191nm of torque. Both the power units will be offered in a 6-speed manual transmission as standard or an optional 6-speed AMT gearbox.

The Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in 9 different trims and 8 different colour schemes, with 6 individual colours and 2 dual-tone colour schemes. The Alcazar 7-seater petrol starts at Rs. 16.3 lakh and the diesel version starts at Rs. 16.53 lakh. However, the 6-seater is slightly costlier than the 7-seater, the petrol trim starts at Rs. 16.45 lakhs, diesel version starts at Rs. 16.53 lakh. However, T is slightly more than the 7-seater, the petrol trim s6.45 lakh and the diesel trim starts at Rs. 16.68 lakh.
