The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV certainly raised eyebrows with its stunning retro exterior and modern tech. Already available in many international markets, the Ioniq 5 is yet to make it to our shores. In recent developments, the Ioniq 5 was spotted testing in India covered with camouflage.

We believe Hyundai has plans of launching a big list of cars in India this year. It includes the facelift versions of the Venue, Creta, Tucson, Kona Electric and possibly the Ioniq 5 EV. So let’s get into the details we know.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV spied in India

The electric vehicle segment is gradually growing in India with the addition of many new players. It seems logical to increase your EV portfolio right now and Hyundai is doing exactly the same. With the Kona Electric already in sale,  they intend to add the Ioniq 5 EV as well.

The Ioniq 5 EV was spotted with heavy camo in the outskirts of Chennai where the Hyundai production plant is located. From the spy pics we have, we can only see the taillights and the wheel rims. The pics don’t show a glimpse of the Ioniq 5 interior.

Unlike Kona Electric, the Ioniq 5 EV is built on the company’s E-GMP platform. In fact, it is the first car to be produced under Hyundai’s dedicated EV platform.

Battery and Price

[table id=10 /]

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets two battery packs – 72.6 kWh & 58 kWh. Both variants get either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive system. The bigger battery with the all-wheel-drive system has a blistering time of 5.2 seconds to go from 0-100 kmph.

The Ioniq 5 has the capability of ultra charging, thanks to its 800V battery technology which is only seen in luxury cars such as the Taycan EV. Their 220 kW DC charger is capable of charging from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes

We don’t have the exact price list of the Ioniq 5 right now. But the Hyundai Ioniq 5 price in India is expected to start from ₹40.00 lakh ex-showroom. Stay tuned for more updates.
