Hyundai had earlier revealed the company’s plan to bring more electric vehicles to the Indian market and to improve the EV infrastructure in India. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the first vehicle made in the new E-GMP platform that will come to India. Here is more information about the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Exterior styling
The exterior styling of the Ioniq 5 is distinct from other models from Hyundai. The Ioniq 5 gets a retro-modern aesthetic with crisp lines and flat surfaces and an SUV-like posture. At the front, a chamfered line runs below the futuristic square futuristic headlights and a closed black grille. furthermore, the side profile is dominated by super cool parametric alloy wheels and a diagonal cut that divides the side door into different planes.
At the rear, the Ioniq 5 brandings are placed in a plane in between the LED taillamps. other features on the rear are a body-colored spoiler and a silver skid plate at the bottom. We believe that all the vehicles in the Ioniq family will come in a similar design styling.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Interior and tech
The Ioniq 5 comes with a specially designed platform for EVs. This flatbed platform allows complete flexibility in the cabin design of the vehicle. This includes sliding and reclining seats, a movable center console, etc. The Ioniq 5 gets a minimalistic cabin with extensive use of sustainable materials.

The main highlight of the dashboard is a pair of the 12-inch screen infotainment system and instrument cluster. Moreover, other interior features are a head-up display, flat bottomed steering wheel, sleek ac vents, etc. Safety features include front-view cameras and digital screens for the rear-view mirror display etc.
Powertrain
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive drivetrain layout. The dual-motor setup can generate 306bhp and a peak torque of 605Nm. Hyundai claims the BEV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 5.2 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 185kmph. Moreover, The entry-level variant gets a 58kWh battery pack and generates 169bhp of power, this variant can sprint from 0- 100kmph in 8.5 seconds.
The superior 72.6kWh battery pack can provide a range of 480km in a single charge. Also, it can charge from 10%-80% in just 18 minutes using a 229kW DC charger. Furthermore, the smaller 58kWh battery pack provides a range of 385km in a single charge.
Ioniq 5 in India
We are expecting the launch of the upcoming BEV by the end of February 2022. The Ioniq 5 will come to India as a fully imported model (CBU). This will make the BEV more expensive than the locally produced Hyundai Kona EV. However, Hyundai is initiating its all-electric venture in India with the powerful Ioniq 5 and the Korean automaker will introduce more affordable EVs specifically produced for the Indian market by 2024. We are expecting the price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to be somewhere between Rs.40-60 lakhs.
