Hyundai is planning to launch two EVs and an MPV in the coming year. The launch of the electric cars and the MPV will be Hyundai’s answer to their competition in the electric and the 7 seater MPV segments.

Hyundai Kona was one of the first entrants to the Indian electric car market. The company will be launching a facelifted version of the Kona EV in India in the first half of 2022. The car has already been introduced in various countries.
The Hyundai Kona EV will be 40mm longer than the previous version and will come with exterior updates such as a closed grille and new Day time running LEDs, the new sleekier headlamps get a high-tech inner bezel that incorporates multifaceted reflector (MFR) technology. The rear lamp is stretched horizontally to give it an aggressive look. Few other changes made to the Hyundai Kona are Air intake system for the updated rear bumper and vertical air intake vents in front of the wheel arch claddings.
The updated interior of the Hyundai Kona EV will include a 10.23-inch infotainment system with Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car solutions. Bluelink will allow users to control features like start and stop charging the Kona with the Bluelink app. The app also displays the vehicle’s charge and range.
Hyundai will offer 2 different battery setups with the new Kona Ev, a 64kWH battery pack that produces 204PS and 395NM torque with a range of 484 km range. The second variant will be a 39.2kwh pack that produces 136Ps and 395Nm torque with a range of 305kms.
The 100kW DC fast charger can charge the Kona from 10-80 percent in 47 minutes.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is one of the most awaited EVs. It will be brought to India as a CBU model. The Ioniq 5 will be built on Hyundai’s dedicated BEV architecture called Electric-Global Modular Platform. The IONIQ 5 is available with 72.5kWh and 58kWh battery packs in the global market. Both come with all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive layouts.
The superior variant delivers a range between 470-480 km and can produce 306 bhp and a peak torque of 605 Nm. The Ioniq 5 has a top speed of 185kmph and can hit 0-100kmph in just 5.2 seconds. The single motor rear-wheel-drive variant can produce 169 bhp and accelerates from 0-100 in 8.5 seconds. The IONIQ 5 can charge from 10%-80% within 18 minutes, using a 220 kW DC fast charger.

Hyundai along with the two EVs will also bring in a new 7 seater MPV in the coming year. This model is rumoured to be called the Hyundai Stargazer and will go head to head against the Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Ertiga.
Hyundai has been testing the new 7 seater MPV in Indonesia and Korea.
The Hyundai Stargaze is likely to be produced at their production facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Stargaze will have a length of 4.5 meters and could have a wheelbase of 2,760 like the Alcazar. The Stargazer is expected to come with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant will produce 113 bhp and 144Nm torque while the diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. And Hyundai will offer a manual and automatic transmission setup for both the engine variants.
