Jeep has been working for quite a while now to bring the new 7-seater SUV based on the Compass to our market. This new car will be called the Jeep Meridian and will rival SUVs such as Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.
Recently leaked spy images show upcoming Meridian test mules covered in camo wraps testing the Arctic circle. The SUV is already on sale in Brazil market as the Jeep Commander; however, the India-spec model will be known as the Meridian.
Exterior Styling and Dimensions
The overall design styling is similar to the premium models like the Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee. Jeep Meridian gets a slim front grille and headlamps with LED DRLs. A chrome strip runs across between the front headlamps. The large alloy wheels and square wheel arches dominate the side profile. At the rear, the Meridian comes with a new beefier bumper, LED tail lamps.
The new Meridian is 4,794mm long, 1,859mm wide, and 1,682mm tall. The 7-seater SUV gets a long wheelbase of 2,794mm to accommodate the third row. The overall body styling looks bold and premium just like other high-end vehicles from Jeep.
Jeep Meridian: Interior and Tech
Inside the Cabin, the Jeep Meridian gets a similar styling to the new Compass. A 10.1-inch infotainment floating system sits at the center of the dashboard. This system supports all the modern connectivity features including Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It also comes in a fully digital 10.21-inch instrument cluster. The Meridian will come in 6-and 7-seat options with the former having captain seats in the second row.
Under the hood, the Meridian SUV gets its power from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine integrated with a 48V mild hybrid system. This setup can generate a total power output of 200bhp and gets a 9-speed automatic gearbox with an AWD system.
The Jeep Meridian is Jeep’s answer for a 3-row SUV. This Segment is getting a lot of traction currently and will be one of the best vehicles in the segment that comes with a powerful engine and an AWD setup.
