Jeep recently officially unveiled its latest seven-seater SUV to the Indian market, the Jeep Meridian. The Meridian SUV is said to be a longer version of the Jeep Compass and it is likely to be coming with 4×2 and 4×4 driving configurations. The Meridian is expected to be launched by June 2022 and will arrive in dealerships by May. Bookings for the model have not officially begun, although some dealers are accepting a down payment of Rs. 50.000/- for the same.
Jeep Meridian SUV: Engine and performance
The Jeep Meridian only comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is currently being used in the Compass. The model will not have a petrol unit. The Meridian’s engine can generate a power of 170 bhp and 350 Nm torque including either a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is also said to have the option of an all-wheel-drive system.
Jeep claimed that the Meridian SUV will have leading performance in its segment. It can go from 0-100 kph within a time span of 10.8 seconds with a top speed of 198 kph. The car’s power-to-weight ratio is apparently the best in the segment as well. The Meridian has four driving modes including Auto, Sand, Snow and Mud.
