Kia is just a day away from launching the Carens and the list of variants and features seems to have leaked. The leaked report suggests that the Carens will have 7different variants and some segment-first features.

Even though Kia calls it a utility vehicle, it looks like a premium MPV. The Carens will be the fourth product from the South Korean carmaker in India. It will compete against the Maruti Ertiga, Hyundai Alcazar and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Kia Carens variants

According to reports, the Carens will have multiple trims on offer. Such as L – HTP/HTM, LX – Premium, EX – Prestige, EX+ – Prestige+, TX – Luxury and TX+ – Luxury+. The lower trims will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga/XL6 and the top-spec trims will rival the Hyundai Alcazar and Toyota Innova Crysta.

Segment first features

The Carens is likely to have segment-first features such as the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), wireless charging and a 360-degree camera. Along with this, the top trims will also feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, flat-bottom steering wheel, single-pane sunroof and more.

Safety features include a range of internet-connected smart features via connectivity suite. Such as geofence alert, vehicle tracking and immobilization, vehicle health report, maintenance alert, find my car, AI-assisted voice commands and more.

Engine specs

As we know, the Carens will borrow the petrol and diesel engines from the Seltos. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine makes 140hp and 242Nm of peak torque mated to a 6-speed manual or a DCT automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel motor pushes 115hp and 250Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter.

Kia is going to launch the Carens on the 16th of December at 12PM. The live event can be viewed on their official website, click here. The expected price range is around ₹15-20 lakh ex-showroom.
