Kia has had great success in the Indian market. In fact, the Korean automaker entered India a few years back and has similar sales figures as many market leaders. Currently, Kia has four models in its Indian lineup – Sonet, Seltos, Carens, and Carnival. Hyundai’s new E-GMP platform is used in the Kia EV6. A platform specially designed for Hyundai’s and Kia’s electric vehicles. Moreover, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses the same platform. The skateboard architecture of the E-GMP platform increases the space and modularity in the vehicle, and also incorporates larger battery packs.
The EV6 employs a 77.4 kWh battery pack that delivers power to an electric motor. This motor churns out 225 BHP and 350 Nm of peak torque. In terms of performance, the EV6 can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. Also, the automaker claims the EV6 has a range of 739 km on a single charge. Moreover, Kia also offers the EV6 with a dual-motor setup. This variant produces 320 BHP and 605 Nm of torque. However, the range is just 669 km.
The Kia EV6 makes its way to our country through the CBU route. We expect Hyundai to bring its BEV Ioniq 5 to our market sometime soon. Both vehicles share a lot of common features and will come with similar pricing.
