Kia marked their entry into the Indian market with the Seltos back in 2019. Since then the Seltos has been the most successful car for the carmaker. Allegedly Kia is already working on the Seltos facelift expected to come sometime next year. The seltos is due for a mid-life update and the spy shots that surfaced recently confirms it.

What to expect from the Seltos facelift?

The SUV was spotted testing under heavy camouflage in South Korea. The test mule didn’t reveal much about the car. However, we could spot redesigned headlights with new LED DRLs similar to the ones in Carens. The front grille is likely to be bigger with a reprofiled front bumper. The rear was completely covered revealing nothing. We can expect the SUV to have a revised rear end with a fresh bumper and taillight design.

With minimal changes to the dash and upholstery, Kia will focus on improving the features & technology. We can expect a new infotainment system and instrument cluster derived from the Carens with more connected car features.

Engine options

Kia is likely to carry forward the same engine options in offer. A 1.5L NA MPI petrol engine, 1.4-L T-GDI petrol engine and a 1.5-L CRDi VGT diesel engine.

However, reports claim that Kia might possibly let go of the diesel motor for the Seltos facelift. Instead, they might introduce a petrol-hybrid version seen in the Niro hybrid. The hybrid assistance will pump up the output to 140hp from 115hp. Kia has made no assurance of bringing this engine to India.

The Seltos facelift will make its global debut next year, the timeline is however not confirmed. Considering the Creta facelift coming next year, Kia probably won’t delay the launch of Seltos facelift. It will compete against the sibling Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Astor, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

Kia recently announced the Carens MPV in India. The luxury utility vehicle is specially designed for Indian customers. The carmaker has not released the pricing of the MPV but the delivery is most likely to begin from March 2022.
