Mahindra & Mahindra: No Hatchbacks Or Sedans In Pipeline

Mahindra

Mahindra

CEO of Mahindra, Anish Shah has recently stated that the Mahindra group has decided not to enter the sedan, hatchbacks and mini SUV segment. Mahindra is all about SUV DNA and that needs no introduction. Mahindra also plans to expand its EV portfolio, that too in the SUV segment. You might be aware of Pininfarina, the premium EV brand under Mahindra.

Mahindra’s History of Making Jeeps in India

Mahindra has been in the Indian market for quite some time now which started initially by assembling Jeep. The company has now decided to only focus on larger SUV and has shown its interest in EV’s which they think is the future of the company.

The company has decided to slowly start to discontinue some of the products which don’t come under the future scope. We can expect the TUV 100 to slowly move towards the end of the product cycle.

What’s Mahindra’s plan ahead?

The all-new Thar is which has healthy sales has strengthened its market shares. Mahindra has high hopes from the upcoming new-gen XUV500 and Scorpio. The Indian automaker is testing both the cars aggressively. We can expect them to carry the new engines under the mStallion range.

Anish Shah has also mentioned that Mahindra’s strategy is to revolve around the SUV range with the likes of Bolero, XUV 300, Scorpio, Thar and the XUV500.

Pininfarina Batista

The Subsidiary Pininfarina is all set to launch its new electric supercar, the Batista which is priced at 2million Euros. The company plans to sell 125 units of Batista. Mahindra’s involvement in Formula E racing and the expertise of Pininfarina with the supercar will help it to establish its future EV goals in India.

Chipset shortage all around the globe has affected a lot of industries including Mahindra. This led to a delay in the production and delivery time of Thar and the launch of XUV500. Mahindra is on a tough road going against rivals like Tata, Hyundai and MG. The company has decided to shed the load by scaling down its business in North America. But we can expect the carmaker to introduce some of the best SUVs in the near future.
