Mahindra XUV 700 came out earlier this year and Bookings for the same commenced on the 7th of October. The SUV saw a massive flow of bookings. In fact above 50,000 units were booked in less than 3 hours, creating a new record for Mahindra and Indian passenger car sales. However, the company is facing a delay in XUV 700 delivery due to multiple reasons.
Mahindra XUV 700 delivery delayed
There is a significant delay in deliveries for the high-end variants such as g AX7, AX7L (Luxury Pack), and AX7L AWD. Moreover, the delay is not just for recent bookings, even the initial bookings made in October have not been delivered yet.
The main reason for the Delay is the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage the automobile industry is facing. Top-spec variants receive advanced tech features like ADAS, electronically pop-out door handles, and wireless charging. These require more high-tech chips, thus creating a delay for these models when compared to the low spec variants.
Mahindra uses a dedicated algorithm to estimate the waiting period. It gives you an estimated delivery date according to the day of booking, preferred colour, variant, powertrain, transmission options, and your position. This tells you that it’s not on a first-come, first-served basis. This is why many zero-hour bookings face longer delays than subsequent bookings.
Waiting period and new low-spec variant
Customers booking the car now are receiving estimated delivery dates of May 2023. However, this is not putting a stop to the rising demand and bookings of the XUV 700. Moreover, Mahindra will be releasing a new low spec variant for customers who do not want to wait long.
The new AX7– smart variant will miss out on features such as ADAS, hill hold/descent control, knee airbag, electronic stability program, drive modes, wireless charger, smart door handles, electronic parking, brake, telescopic steering adjustment, and driver drowsiness detection. Mahindra will reveal detailed information regarding the features and pricing of the new low-spec variant sometime soon.
