Maruti Celerio CNG launched at a price of Rs.6.58 Lakhs

Maruti Celerio

Maruthi Suzuki has added the all-new Celerio to its CNG range in India. The New CNG model comes as a standard VXI variant with a factory-fitted GNG unit. The automaker said that the Dualjet petrol engine with an additional CNG kit can provide optimum performance, enhanced safety, and great fuel efficiency. Moreover, the new Celerio CNG comes at a price of Rs.6.58 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Keep reading to know more about the Maruti Celerio CNG.

What has changed? Interior and Exterior

The CNG-powered Celerio is pretty similar to the standard model. The only change that comes in the exterior is the new S-CNG badge on the tailgate to make the variant distinct from the standard model. There arent any significant changes going on in the interior as well.

However, the CNG fuel tank is placed inside the boot of the vehicle. This results in losing a minor amount of boot space in the CNG variant. The features carried over to the CNG model include central locking, air conditioning, electric adjust wing mirrors, power windows, and split-folding rear seat. Maruti also provides dual airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors as safety features in the new Celerio CNG.

Maruti Celerio CNG: Powertrain

The CNG variant comes with the same 1.0-litre K10C DualJet engine from the standard model. However, the power output is limited to 57hp and 82.1 Nm of torque in the CNG variant. This is 10 HP and 6.9Nm less when compared to the standard Celerio. Also, only a single 5-speed manual transmission setup is available for the CNG variant. The standard models get an optional 5-speed amt gearbox.

Although the power figures are a bit low on the new CNG variant, the car shines when it comes to mileage. The new K10C engine works with two fuel injectors per cylinder this results in a higher compression ratio and also has higher thermal efficiency. Making the Celerio the most fuel-efficient hatchback in the country. This technology helps the Celerio CNG deliver a fuel efficiency of 35.6 Km/Kg. In fact, this is 5km more mileage when compared to the previous model.

Maruti Celerio CNG : Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki already has a great lineup of CNG vehicles. In fact, the automaker has the most CNG-powered cars in its lineup. After the launch of Celerio CNG, only Swift Dzire, and Brezza is left to get a CNG kit in the Maruti Suzuki arena lineup. We expect Maruti to roll out the same in the near future. However, due to the rising fuel prices and increasing demand for CNG vehicles, Maruti might also release CNG variants for Baleno and Ignis as well.
