Maruti Suzuki has a long list of cars to be launched next year. The 2022 facelift Baleno being one of them has been spotted undisguised on road during a TV commercial shoot. Launched in 2015, the Baleno had few revisions along the way. For 2022, Maruti seems to have given a substantial update both on the inside and outside.
What has changed?
The 2022 Baleno spy shots surfaced recently giving out all necessary updates. The front grille is now long and extended to integrate with the sharp and elongated new headlights. At the rear, the newly revised taillamps now overlap the boot.
Inside the cabin, the carmaker seems to have revised the entire dashboard and centre console. Unlike the ongoing Baleno which features a 7-inch unit, the 2022 facelift is likely to feature either 8 or 9-inch touchscreen unit. The SmartPlay studio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Navigation and other features will be carried forward.
The AC vents are now horizontally placed beneath the new infotainment system. The new steering wheel comes with mounted controls, the updated instrument cluster is now a semi-digital unit.
Engine and performance
There is no update on the mechanical front for the 2022 Maruti Baleno. It gets the existing 1.2L NA petrol motor pushing out 90hp with a mild-hybrid assist. The transmission includes either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT unit.
Pricing and launch
The 2022 Baleno facelift will cost slightly more than the current model. The premium hatch from Nexa will go against the Hyundai i20, VW Polo, Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz. As for the launch, Maruti has made no official announcement yet, but we expect it to happen in the coming months.
Along with the 2022 Baleno facelift, Maruti will also launch the facelifted versions of the Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza, Jimny, Alto and a few new SUVs in collaboration with Toyota.
