The Maruti Celerio launched back in 2014 received a minor facelift in 2017. The brand had plans of giving the hatch a next-gen update in 2020. The launch has been delayed since the Pandemic broke out in India. Now it is finally confirmed that the Next-gen Celerio will be launched on November 10th. While customers can Pre-book the Celerio 2021 ahead of launch. 

Delayed due to lockdowns and semiconductor shortage, The Celerio 2021 is ready to launch. Customers can now pre-book the mini hatch at any MSIL dealership or online at Rs. 11,000/-.

Receiving major updates after 8 long years, the Celerio will get significant overall changes. According to the Executive Director for marketing and Sales at MSIL, Shashank Srivastava “ The all-new Celerio with a new petrol engine, vibrant and stylish design, and with a host of segment-first features is an all-rounder. We are confident that the all-new Celerio will once again energize the compact segment”. 

The Celerio 2021 will use Maruti’s new modular Heartect Platform which is also used in the WagonR. The designers have put an end to the squarish looks by using a more rounded design overall. The updated new front fascia gets a new grille design with chrome accents. The updated headlights are rounded now along with the new body character lines. 

The Celerio look slightly bigger than its predecessor. Indicating the improvement in dimensions for better comfort, cabin space and boot space. The cabin also gets a revised new dashboard layout and redesigned AC Vents. 

Features include a new projector headlight with integrated DRLs, an updated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto connectivity. A new instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, power windows (All 4 doors) are some of the new features. 

Maruti Celerio 2021 Engine and Transmission

Powering the Celerio 2021 is Maruti’s K10C petrol engine previously used in the Baleno RS. The naturally aspirated petrol engine will produce slightly more power than 68bhp. The motor is mated either to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. 

The engine uses Maruti-Suzuki’s DualJet Technology and two injectors per cylinder for better efficiency. According to CV Raman, Chief Techincal Officer at MSIL “Powered by Nex-Gen K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with first in segment IDle Start-Stop Technology, the All-new Celerio will be the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India”. 

Pricing and Competition 

The price list for the Celerio 2021 is expected to be revealed during the launch. However, we expect it to be a little more than the ongoing Celerio. The Maruti Celerio is placed to go against the Tata Tiago, Datsun Go, Hyundai Santro and Renault Kwid.
