Maruti Suzuki Celerio What To Expect

Maruti Suzuki Celerio What To Expect

Maruti Suzuki launched the Celerio back in 2014, since then the car has been doing decent sales for the brand. It received a minor facelift in 2017, but since then the car has been the same. Now Maruti Suzuki has planned to launch the second generation Celerio, it has been spied testing several times. So what can we expect from the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio?

  1. Design changes for the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio

The new Celerio is expected to have few changes design-wise, the dimensions will be bigger providing more space inside the cabin. It will not retain the tall-boy design of the outgoing car. The next-gen receives small and smooth headlamps, a new bumper, a new front grille with chrome strips, fog lamps on the lower bumper. The rear end is also completely redesigned; it gets a new bumper, boot and taillamp.

  2. It underpins the Maruti Heartect modular platform

The car will be based on the brands Heartect platform which is seen in other models like S-Presso and Wagon R. The new platform ensures the car sits on a longer wheelbase and is also wide. This helps in improved cabin space providing better passenger comfort.

  3. Redesigned interior with improved features

Just like the exterior, the interior is also completely redesigned with improved features. From the spy shots, we can see that it has a new dashboard design with some common gears seen in other Maruti models. The centre console is placed higher with Maruti Suzuki’s new SmartPlay infotainment system supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a new instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse camera, brake assist.

  4. Engine options for the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio

The Celerio will be offered only in petrol, it will probably come with 2 engine options. One is the Maruti’s K10 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 67bhp and 91nm of torque. Another being the Maruti’s K12 unit seen in the Wagon R, a 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 83bhp of power and 110 NM of torque. For both the engines the transmission options will be a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT transmission.

  5. Rivals for the Maruti Suzuki Celerio

The second-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio was planned for April-May 2021 launch. However, because of the Pandemic, it was postponed and is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2021. The expected price of the car is between Rs. 4.5L to 6.5L ex-showroom. The car will compete against the Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid and Hyundai Santro in the market.
