Maruti Suzuki is prepared to launch its new SUV. the Jimny and the marketing strategy is ready for the Indian market. The company is collecting valuable feedback from prospective customers to make the Jimny more feasible for our market. This includes cosmetic and features upgrades depending on the feedback. The company is also doing its research on Jimny’s pricing for India. The carmakers started producing the 3-door Jimny in India which gets exported to other international markets like Africa, Middle East, and Latin America.
According to the Executive director of sales and marketing, Maruti Suzuki, Shashank Srivastava “Jimny was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 in India, from the past 2-3 months Maruti ramped up their production plant to produce the 3-door Jimny which gets imported to other markets. The export numbers for the Jimny are pretty good. So once we have sufficient feedback from our customers and get our pricing research for India we will move ahead with our marketing plans. According to the feedback, we will decide if the car needs any India-specific changes.”
What is new about the Maruti Suzuki Jimny?
According to reports, the carmaker might bring the 5-door version of the Jimny to India which will probably be sold in Nexa showrooms. The long-wheelbase 5-door version of the Jimny will probably debut alongside the 3-door Jimny. The 5-door Jimny will be produced alongside the 3-door version which is already being produced in India.
Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be equipped with a 1.5L K15B petrol engine which produces 102bhp and 138nm torque. Reports tell that the brand will also introduce the car with a powerful smart hybrid technology. The powertrain is the same as seen in the Vitara Brezza SUV, Ertiga MPV, Ciaz and the S-cross. Transmission options include either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Maruti Jimny is likely to be practical with a spacious cabin, foldable rear seats, multifunction steering wheel, fabric upholstery and automatic climate control. The centre console is a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports standard connectivity options. To make it an off-road-friendly SUV the company will introduce safety features like traction control, hill assist, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and multiple airbags.
The detailed pricing of the Jimny will be announced when the car is launched, probably early 2022. But the expected price of the car is Rs. 10-12L ex-showroom. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will rival the powerful Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Force Gurkha.
