Maruti Suzuki September production to come down by 60%

Maruti Suzuki to cut production

Maruti Suzuki has indicated in a regulatory filing that its output in September is anticipated to suffer a significant reduction. This is owing to a scarcity of electrical components, such as semiconductors. Production is expected to drop by 60% in September. A total of 1,03,800 fewer automobiles are expected to be produced. New-gen The Celerio is the company’s next significant launch.

Details about Maruti Suzuki’s September production

“The company is expecting an adverse impact on vehicle production in the month of September in both Haryana and its contract manufacturing company, Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt. Ltd. (SMG) in Gujarat, due to a supply constraint of electronic components due to the semiconductor shortage situation,” Maruti Suzuki said in a statement. Despite the fact that the situation is fluid, it is currently projected that total vehicle production volume across both locations will be around 40% of normal.”

The two Maruti Suzuki India plants in Haryana, Gurgaon and Manesar, have a combined manufacturing capacity of 15,80,000 units, while the Suzuki Motor Gujarat facility has a capacity of 5,00,000 units. This amounts to just over 2 million units per year (20,80,000). The combined monthly output of the three reactors is estimated to be just over 1,73,000 units. As a result, about 1,03,800 fewer units are expected to be produced in September, which marks the start of India’s festival season.

This news backs with what FADA president Vinkesh Gulati said last week to our sister website Autocar Professional. Despite a resurgence in demand, he said, sales during the holiday season will be hampered due to a significant supply-demand mismatch caused by the current semiconductor supply chain problem.

Maruti Suzuki confirmed a September price hike across its full model range on August 30. This is the carmaker’s third price rise in eight months, owing to rising input costs, and it’s a move that could see other companies follow like.

Maruti Suzuki’s New Cars
