Maruti Suzuki to Recall their Units for a possible electrical glitch

Maruti Suzuki recall 1.8 lakh vehicles

For a suspected faulty motor-generator unit, Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for over 1.80 lakh vehicles, including petrol variants of the Ertiga, Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, XL6 and S-Cross. Owners are advised not to drive in flooded areas. From the first week of November 2021, affected vehicles will be serviced.

Over 1.80 lakh Maruti Suzuki vehicles have been recalled

The 1,81,754 vehicles involved in the recall were built between May 4, 2018, and October 27, 2020. Maruti Arena models Ertiga and Vitara Brezza, as well as Maruti Nexa models XL6, S-Cross, and Ciaz are all affected. The motor-generator unit in the affected vehicles will be inspected and, if found to be defective, will be replaced at no cost to the customer. Maruti Suzuki authorised workshops will contact and notify owners of affected vehicles. The repairs will begin in the first week of November 2021 and will be completed in stages.

Until that time, Maruti Suzuki had advised its customers not to drive in areas where water is congested and to spray water directly on electric/electronic vehicle parts.

Customers can also check the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section on the Maruti Suzuki website (for the Vitara Brezza and Ertiga) or the Nexa website to see if their vehicle has been affected (for the XL6, S-Cross and Ciaz). To see if their vehicle requires any attention, all they have to do is enter their vehicle’s chassis number.

Upcoming Launches And Production Cuts

In other news, Maruti Suzuki has announced a 60 percent reduction in production for September 2021, owing to the ongoing global semiconductor crisis. The automaker recently announced a price increase across its entire model lineup.

The all-new Celerio hatchback, which is set to hit the market by the end of the year, is Maruti’s biggest upcoming launch. In early 2022, the Baleno will receive a comprehensive facelift. Maruti Suzuki is also planning updates for the Ertiga, XL6, and Vitara Brezza, in addition to these two.
