On October 11, MG Motor India will reveal the Astor SUV’s pricing. The MG Astor is essentially the petrol version of the ZS EV, with minor stylistic changes and additional equipment. Two engine options and eight versions will be available for the Astor. So far, we’ve learned the following.

Engine and gearbox options

A 110hp, 1.5-Litre normally aspirated petrol engine or a powerful 140hp 1.3-Litre turbo-petrol engine will power the MG Astor. The 1.3-litre engine will only come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. While the 1.5-litre engine will come with a 5-speed manual or an 8-step CVT auto transmission.

The Astor is available in eight different colours: Style, Super, Smart Std, Smart, Sharp Std, Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will only be available with a manual transmission in the top-spec Savvy and Savvy Red grades. There will be no automatic transmission or 1.3-litre engine in the Astor Style.

What the MG Astor has to offer

The mid-size SUV is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which uses a camera and radar located in the vehicle. This conducts duties like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and others.

The top-spec model is loaded with a plethora of features like LED headlamps and DRLs, leatherette upholstery, electric parking brake, tyre pressure monitor, 360-degree camera, heated wing mirrors, steering weight adjustment with driving modes, panoramic sunroof, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety aspects

The ADAS functionality on higher-spec models, safety features like six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake aid, ESP, traction control, hill start and descent control, and rear disc brakes are some of the safety features available in the Astor.

Estimated Price

In an interview with Autocar India, MG President and MD Rajeev Chaba stated that the Astor will be sold at a rate of roughly 3,000 units each month. We expected the SUV to be priced reasonably, between Rs 10 and Rs 16 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
