MG received over 700 orders for the ZS EV in August 2021 and has registered nearly 500 units for the electric SUV sale.
MG Motor India has just surpassed its own record-breaking ZS EV sales. While 404 electric SUVs were delivered in July 2021, there were about 500 of the 4,315 units sold in August 2021. The ZS EV has also attracted over 700 pre-orders, the highest level since its launch.
MG said it announced a 51% year-over-year sales growth compared to August 2020. Hector and Hector Plus accounted for over 3,400 units, while MG shipped 405 units of Glosters in August 2021.
The MG ZS is a practical compact SUV with an emphasis on value that offers a lot of style and solid confidence right from the start. It was first launched in India in January 2020. A year after the launch, MG Motor unveiled an updated version of the electric model, which was officially unveiled in India in February this year.
Power & Engine: MG ZS EV
The 5 kWh battery has a power reserve of 419 km. MG equipped the car with a 143 hp electric motor and 353 Nm of torque. You can squeeze up to 80 percent in 50 minutes with the DC fast charger, while the wall-mounted AC fast charger takes about 68 hours to fully charge the battery. A three-way fork does the same job in about 18-19 hours.
In terms of features, the MG EV has automatic air conditioning, a built-in air purifier, an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, and car connectivity technology. The ZS EV also features a powered driver’s seat and wipers. Safety features onboard include six airbags, a start assist system and rear parking sensors.
MG priced the electric SUV from Rs 20.99 (old showroom) and up. While its only direct competitor is the Hyundai Kona Electric, it also serves as a premium alternative to the Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV. Other electric vehicles in India include the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar IPace, Audi e tron, as well as the upcoming Audi e tron GT, Tesla Model 3 and Mahindra KUV100 EV.
