Mini Cooper decided to launch its first electric vehicle, the SE in India today. It is confirmed that the price of the SE will be Rs.47.20 lakh. Mini Cooper started bookings for the hatchback a few months ago. Deliveries for the model will start by March this year. The CBU units were sold out in the pre-launch phase itself.
Mini Cooper SE Transmission
The new powertrain to the latest Cooper SE will have a 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery pack and electric motor will have a power of 181 hp (135 kW) and torque at 270 Nm. It can possibly offer a range of 270 kilometres after every charge. It has a single-speed direct-drive engine. This hatchback can be charged up to 80% in a little above two hours with a 11kW charger. Moreover, the SE can jump zip from 0-100 kmph in a matter of 7.3 seconds.
The new SE is the most affordable luxury electric car sold in India. The SE does not have any direct competition. Also, the Mini Cooper SE is the first all-electric car in the compact premium segment.

The Mini Cooper has a completely new design on its front bumper. It has a redesigned rear bumper and updated front grille as well. The facelifted version of the Mini will retain the LED headlights and the Union Jack themed tail lamps from the previous model.
Moreover, the distinctive 17-inch electric power spoke with run-flat tires also gives a smooth finish. In India, the SE is available in 4 colours including White Silver, Moonwalk Grey, Midnight Black and British Racing Green. It sits at an increased height of 15 mm to give clearance for the battery pack.
The SE’s cabin has a combination of great features and systems. It includes a 5.5-inch coloured multi-information display, a sound system from Harman Kardon and an 8.8-inch infotainment system. It also has ambient lighting on the inside along with a vibrant yellow on its door pads, gear lever and so on. There is a space of 211-litres for a four-seater. Space increases with a decrease in the number of required seats.
