As of current news, Ford stopped manufacturing in the country. Instead, they will start to import premium cars to India. There is an all-new Ford in town and it is called the Ranger Raptor. It will be launched in Europe first. The Ranger Raptor is relevant for India because it gives us a sneak peek as to what the Endeavour (Everest) would be like.
Ranger Raptor Engine
Under the hood of the new Ranger Raptor is a 3.0-litre Ecoboost twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that churns out 392 hp and 583 Nm of torque. It has a 182 hp bump in power compared to the older version.
Performance figures haven’t been revealed yet but the car is expected to be faster than its older version. Its predecessor only took 10.1 seconds to hit 100 kmph on the dash. The previously available 2.0-litre diesel engine is still an option. This engine makes 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
Ranger Raptor Specs
Ford has implemented 7 different driving modes in the Raptor. It includes Normal, Sport Slippery, Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud, and Baja. The model has an electrically-controlled 2-speed transfer case and front and rear locking differentials. It has bypass shock absorbers and a 2.3 mm high strength bash plate protecting vital mechanicals. It also has upgraded Fox’s Live Valve dampers that absorb maximum undulations for better control and an active exhaust system.
Design and Safety
Internally, the car will have a bigger steering wheel with the Raptor badge. It will have red highlights as well. It will also have the same Mach-E portrait touchscreen infotainment system. This system is paired with a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Externally, it has an updated front bumper, LED headlights and a new front grille. It has a unique rear bumper and 17-inch alloy wheels as well. The Ranger Raptor name stands boldly on the tailgate of the vehicle. It has thick tires to help improve its off-roading capability. Some safety features include Electronic stability control, Trail Control and Hill descent control.
Rumours of the Raptor launching in India were there for a while, but that reduced after Ford stopped manufacturing in the country. Cars can still come to the CBU route to India and the Ranger might be one among them. That means the off-roader is not completely out of the picture for India.
