The Skoda Kodiaq was one of the models that came to a halt when the new BS6 emission norms came into effect. The Czech automaker is all set to launch a BS6 compliant version of the SUV. Skoda had planned the launch of this Kodiaq facelift for 2022 itself.  The ongoing pandemic and semiconductor shortage created a delay in its launch in India. The upcoming facelift will be the same model sold in the international market.

Skoda revealed the upcoming Facelift in April 2021. However, the automaker has made, Minor changes existing design.

At the front, The SUV will get the signature butterfly grille with vertical slats, Sleekier LED headlamps with new DRLs and a new set of Fog lamps. The updated front bumper gets a new end-to-end air intake mesh grille. The Top-spec variant will receive a larger 20-inch wheel. At the rear, the LED taillamps are now sharper, the rear bumper is more bold and muscular. Also, the facelift will include an updated roof-mounted spoiler.

Inside the cabin, Skoda has made multiple design and technical updates. The 2022 Kodiaq facelift will come with a new two-spoke steering wheel we have previously seen on the Octavia, Superb, and Kushaq. Moreover, the SUV will feature a 9.2-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Also, an updated Canton sound system with ten speakers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer and Massage seats will be provided as optional. The global models of the Kodiaq get an optional eco seat, made out of recycled vegetable materials. However, we will have to wait until the launch to see if the India-bound model will receive this update.


The BS6 compliant engine is the main highlight of the upcoming facelift. This new engine is petrol-powered. The models sold previously in India used a diesel-powered motor. The new 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine can generate 190 hp. That’s an extra 40 hp when compared to the previous diesel engine which generated 150hp. All-wheel drive and 7-speed automatic transmission will be standard across all variants.

Skoda is planning to launch the Kodiak facelift sometime in January 2022. Although, the previous BS4 version was sold in India as a Completely Knocked down version (CKD). The upcoming facelift is expected to be brought into the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU). The new Kodiaq facelift will rival the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Upcoming Jeep meridian SUV.
