Kushaq design and styling
The Kushaq is going to be the first car from Skoda’s India 2.0 strategy to come out. It will utilize the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform developed by the Volkswagen group. This will also underpin the upcoming VW Taigun which is the technical twin for the Kushaq.
The SUV resembles a lot to Skoda’s Vision IN concept which was showcased last year. It features the trademark Skoda grille upfront with a chrome frame that is attached to the headlights. The headlamps get the crystalline design pattern seen in the more premium cars from Skoda. At the rear Skoda has used a split design for the taillights.
Other design elements include 17-inch alloy wheels for the top variant, a roof-mounted spoiler, faux diffuser, LED taillamps. As for the dimensions, the Kushaq measures 4,255mm in length, 1,760mm in width, 1,612mm in height and 2,651mm wheelbase. It has a decent 188mm of ground clearance and boot space of 385 litres with all seats in their upright position.
Inside the cabin, Skoda has really shown its magic with modern technologies and comfort features. To match the luxury to its cars in international markets it has a layers dash and a free-standing touchscreen in the middle along with the two-spoke steering wheel. The features include a Climatronic system with touch panels for AC, ventilated front seats, 10-inch touch screen, electric sunroof and Skoda’s mySkoda connect which allows you to know the vehicles live location, driving data and more.
As for the safety features, the Kusahq comes with 6 airbags, multi-collision braking, ABS with EBD, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, rear parking sensor, cruise control, hill hold assist and tyre pressure monitor.

Skoda will introduce the Kushaq in three trims – Active, Ambition and Style. The Active trim will be offered with a simple grey dashboard and fabric seats, and also feature an alloy like plastic wheel cover. The Ambition will be offered with silver-finished elements on the dash and dual-tone seat covers. The top trim will have all the features the company intends to launch with the car. However, there are reports that Skoda will introduce a Monte-Carlo edition in later stages. This will feature improved upholstery and will be limited to the 1.5L TSI engine. Skoda has confirmed 5 colour options for the Kushaq, Honey Orange, Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel and Tornado Red.
The price has not been confirmed yet, but we expect the Kushaq to be priced around Rs. 10-16 lakh ex-showroom. The Skoda Kushaq is entering into fierce competition with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and the upcoming sister car Volkswagen Taigun. Skoda has been busy with the launch of Octavia on June 10, the next addition to the portfolio will be a petrol version of the Kodiaq and later it will debut its new mid-size sedan.
