The Czech carmaker is all set to launch the most anticipated 4th generation, Skoda Octavia 2021. The second wave of the pandemic has forced the company to push the launch to the end of this month. Let’s discuss some key details before the launch of the car.
-
Powerful engine than the predecessor
The predecessor was offered in 3 engine options – the 1.8L TSI 180 bhp, 1.4L TSI with 150 bhp and a diesel variant which was 2.0L TDI with 143 bhp. Whereas the new 2021 Skoda Octavia will be offered in one engine option, the 2.0L 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine churns out 190 bhp. This comes in paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
-
Modern exterior
We can evidently see more changes given to the exterior of the car. The new design language is clearly seen to upheld by the Octavia. The quad headlamp design is no more, is it replaced with a conventional single unit. The new grille is bigger this time that extends out to connect the headlamps. The side comprises a strong shoulder line with a tapered roofline. The rear LED taillamp strikes out with the Skoda lettering on the tailgate.
-
Features with premium interiors
The 10.0-inch infotainment system and 10.25-inch drivers digital instrument cluster dominates the dashboard. The cabin is entirely equipped with a soft-touch material to make it feel more premium and comfortable inside. The feature-rich international Skoda Octavia includes – ambient lighting, connected car tech, digital assistance, 3-zone climate control, wireless charging. We expect the majority of these techs to be included in the Indian version.
-
Spacious than before
The bigger dimensions have resulted in an executive sedan because it is based on the modular MQB platform. The 4th generation Octavia is 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the predecessor. This improves the overall cabin space inside the car.
-
Just one rival in the market
In recent years the trend has been shifting towards SUV‘s which means customers are no more interested in the executive sedan. With this, the executive sedan segment is shrinking. With the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis being discontinued the 4th generation Skoda Octavia has almost no competition. The only competitor being the Hyundai Elantra the Octavia sits strong in the executive sedan segment.
