Zac Hollis, Brand Director – Sales, Service, and Marketing, Skoda Auto India tweeted announcing that the 2021 Skoda Octavia will be launched next month. Initially planned to be launched in May the launch got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What’s new?

Initial reports suggest that the new Octavia will be slightly larger than its predecessor in terms of dimensions. It will be available only in the petrol variant. The new Octavia will get new design features which Skoda is equipping its newer cars like Fabia and Kushaq with. The Octavia will be more similar to its sibling car the Superb in terms of looks and design features.

Engine and features:

The Octavia will be available in a single petrol engine. A 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine generates a horsepower of 190. The Octavia comes with a 7-speed-dual clutch automatic transmission as a standard. In the interior, the Octavia has a free-standing touch screen and also has a two-spoke steering wheel.

Unlike its predecessor, the 2021 Skoda Octavia will not be available in the diesel variant.

Competition:

The Octavia is an executive sedan and will compete with the likes of Hyundai Elantra.
Honda Civic which would have been a tough competitor to the Octavia has now been discontinued leaving more room for Octavia and Elantra in this segment.

Skoda has a few cars set to be launched this year alongside Octavia like Kushaw and the facelifted version of the Kodiaq.
